SIMOTICS Motor Generation 1LE1 Severe Duty
Motors with cast iron housings
SIEMENS 1LE1 motors with cast iron housings are especially rugged. This makes them the first choice for applications in the toughest of environmental conditions. They master dust and vibration at crushers and mixers – just the same as aggressive atmospheres in the petrochemical industry. Their design supports optimum motor cooling and offers the same handling as for the General Purpose versions.

- The optimum motor to meet a wide range of demands
The following lines are available for Severe Duty applications:
- Basic Line: rugged, reliable motors for machinery construction
- Performance Line: Motors for the process industry with reinforced bearings and a
tougher paint finish, which can handle requirements that go beyond the Basic Line
- Eagle Line: Motors for export into NAFTA; they fulfill ULR and CSA requirements and
are supplied with the electrical values according to EISA stamped on the rating plate
Also here, the following applies: The 1LE1 family offers solutions for the widest range of requirements worldwide.
- Compact type of construction
The size of a motor frequently plays a significant role in machines. This is the reason that 1LE1 motors in IE2 and IE3 are, as a maximum, as long as their predecessors from the 1LG series in IE2.
An additional highlight: In some instances, IE3 motors fit in the same frame as motors with IE2. It goes without saying that the efficiency classes do not differ regarding their shaft height, which is why the mechanical interface to the machine always stays the same. In turn, this facilitates an essentially straightforward efficiency upgrade to IE3 – without having to adapt the mechanical design of a machine in many cases.
- More power
Also in the Severe Duty area, increased power output motors can be precisely the solution if the space available for a standard motor is not sufficient. The reason for this is that these motors have the same power rating but in the next smaller shaft height.
